A Magical Christmas in South Devon

South Devon is bursting with Christmas events and activities. With sparkling lights, festive markets, Yuletide crafts, choirs singing classic carols, ice skating and more, there is plenty to get you in the festive mood. What’s better is that all of this can be found right on our doorstop.

Plymouth Christmas Market and Ice Rink

Grab your bobble hat and scarf and enjoy a spot of Christmas shopping at Plymouth’s craft and food market. There are lots of stalls, filled with fun and unique stocking fillers to give to your nearest and dearest.

Nothing says it Christmas time more than a spot of ice skating. The outdoor ice rink returns to Plymouth’s city centre once again so get your skates on and enjoy gliding under the twinkling Plymouth lights. If you get a bit chilly then you can warm yourself up with a few glugs of mulled wine or gooey hot chocolate.

Lanterns, Lights & ‘Luminations at Brixham

No need to worry if you missed the “lanterns, lights and ‘luminations” parade, you can still head down to Brixham to see this town’s spectacular illuminations. The lanterns from the parade were made from completely recycled products and some of the colourful and ingenious designs can still be seen on display.

Dartmouth in Candlelight

Come winter the streets of Dartmouth come alive with the glow of Christmas as a fantastic procession of candlelight lanterns are carried by the town’s children.

This festive ambience is enhanced by carol singing and chestnuts being roasted over open fires. As a special treat for the children, during the evening Father Christmas will arrive in the town by boat and hand out gifts presents.

This seaside town has a surprisingly tranquil atmosphere during the winter months is a perfect destination for couples and families alike.

Wreath Making Workshops

Get creative this festive season and learn the art of making a traditional Christmas wreath for you to take home and hang on your front door.

There are plenty of workshops happening across south Devon where foliage and decorations will be supplied (for a small fee) along with expert advice and tips.

If you want to make it an extra special day then we highly recommend heading to the Moorland Garden hotel where wreath making will be followed by delicious and seasonal afternoon tea.
